We all need to get out more so we don't go crazy with life , so we are trying to take field trips every weekend. This weekend we went to the washington side of the columbia gorge for a little fishing.

A little hike to a hidden lake where they cant check our fishing lic.

The News about Yamaha XS650 by Holiday Customs

Found a rusty old Yamaha 400 in Portland in 1976, XS650, Jared Johnson practices in the festival clearly know what they want to create. “I have been thinking about how I want this thing I really like to see on the Schwinn cruiser bicycle line., smooth curve. ”

Bike sat for a few months until he was ready to fully immersed in their own projects in his shop. “I did everything but the bike seat. frame took only one week. I rolled metal pipes welded together and then the tire and realized it was not low enough, so I cut off the tail to start. ” frame is completed, Curved lines for the framework behind the idea of the pipeline came to him. “The pipeline was 4 days long, rolling, slotting the rear axle blurted out, walk around to see it for hours, ” he said.

Other features include an old tank Xiamen Jones, he found “some rust to be an awesome”online. He also raised the fork covers the exhaust pipe, front wheel off the seat of a SL175 and the beautiful new church by Motorola in the very talented ginger cushion.

My computer has been down for a week or so but were back in action. Me and my shop mates went fishing last saturday.

Hardtail is on and sitting pretty. Got some low bar clamps and narrowed the bars a couple inches, it's looking real nice.

I thought I would get it in the sun being that it hasn't seen it for months.

Finished the day off with a little ride, mostly testing out my new yellow 6v fog lamp headlight. It works great.

Harley hardtail

Took off the swingarm , shocks and started chopping .

When I first put the tail together it made the bike 4" longer than stock . It was 63" and I was shooting for 58"-59" so I took out some sections.

Also lowered the front 1" for now. Looking good.

I'm going to finish the welds and start on the oil tank, seat and fender before pulling the motor.

Made a bracket and re-located the coils under the tank. Coils were sticking out off the side of the engine.

Some of the toughest trails yet. Slippery leaf covered trails with frigen water falls, soft shoulders , cliffs , fallen trees, and bear den's. I didn't take to many pic's because we spent most of our day getting unstuck, sweating our asses off , loosing it, throwing helmets, kick starting the bikes, putting chains back on and picking our bikes up. Then the trail just ended so we had to turn back and do it all over . But at the end of the day we were all pretty stoked that we made it out. I'll do it again.

Hangover scramble

The hangover scramble is a race on jan 1st at 8 am , sign ups at 7am. We stayed up late, drank 15 beers and lit some fireworks. Went to bed for a couple hours and got up at 6am. It was brutal but we did it. The layout is see how many times you can lap the track in a hour, yeah ...going as fast as you can hungover for a hour. I was able to do 14 laps.

The day that i'm moving into a new place, box's packed ,truck packed it lost power got real loud and smokey. After thinking I blew the engine in my truck I opened it up and found 1 bent and 1 broken push rod. I rode my motorcycle to the ford dealer and bought 2 new rods for $9 and put it back together in 4 hours and the truck is fine. I haven't been working on motorcycles in a while , shit just keeps popping up.

We unloaded the bikes and first thing Travis does is an over 12:00 wheelie and looses his new fender and busted the side plate, classic.

Slick mud and ruts to start the ride off.

This was all wet clay, feet out flying all over the trail.

I ordered a 5.00 x16 firestone for the rear and a 3.00x 19 front .

The front tire looks too small so back to the drawing board , or the tire changer in this case. Im going to lace up a 21"wheel and order a 3.00 x 21 speedmaster mark 2 and It will even this thing out.

Holiday on ice.

From Wikipedia, The Ice Capades was a traveling entertainment show featuring theatrical performances involving motorcycles. Shows often featured rider's that didn't realize how deep the snow was going to be and others that just wanted to get out of town for a few days and didn't really care how fucking cold it was going to be.

Started in 1940, Ice Capades grew rapidly and prospered for fifty years. A decline in popularity ensued, and the show went out of business around 1995. There have been several attempts to revive the show and its name.

My trailer was blocked in by a car so we had to get creative.

While my bike was only shooting steam out.....

The honda was shooting legit flames out of the right cylinder so I went through everything and adjusted valves, points, timing, carbs and she's back.

I bought 2 4x10 12 guage sheets. It turns out that they were 3/4'' long on each side so I cut 3/4'' off with my grinder. Burned through about 8 blades.

The tank didn't fit flat because of the bottom drain plug so I had to build a frame to raise it up a bit.

Then the perfect storm hit.

As I left the shop that night I made sure to drag it along the loading dock on my way out.

Woke up early and found some grease at a local restaurant to fill the tank .

Hooked up all the grease and coolant lines and insulated them for the cool weather .

Bam! done for now, at least running on grease again but there still is a lot of work to be done on the truck.

It was a little colder than we thought, but my honda was ready to go.

Some free forest wood.

Java's bike broke down about 4 miles out on the trails so we went out to recover it . It was around 24 deg.

After we got Java and the bike back to the camp we made a big ol gas fire to warm up with.

Then worked on the bike by camp fire light.

I slept warm but in the morning all liquids were frozen solid along with boots and helmets so it took a bit to get everything going.

It dried out and made the dirt so good. We ripped it till we couldn't hold on anymore and called it a day.

This is the inside of a tank for http://www.greasebus.com/ the tubes running through the tank will have hot coolant running through them heating the vegetable oil making it less viscous so the diesel bus has a better time burning it. The center pieces are baffles so the grease doesn't splash around so bad.

So this is how the story go's.... I didn't have much room for motorcycles with vegetable oil ,tool box's, gas , ramps coolers ect. in there. So I put my bed up for sale on craigslist and no one called for 3 weeks . Then I got my first call and he wanted it right away so I had to go into flat bed mode .

Squeezed my truck into his garage and..

Hooked a come-along to the bed and the rafters in his garage and got it off.

I'll miss you o'l bed.

This box was for sale for $400 brand new. When the transition was made and they forklifted it on his truck, reality set in , the thing is huge and is 1200 pounds, We were both saying "what did we just do"? So I might be re-thinking my box truck idea.

So this is what I have today, just the frame. I need to get the decking on soon and get my grease tank in, I've been driving around on diesel lately and ... well , it suck's, so expensive.

I've been waiting on parts for Kyle's harley, some showed up so it's time to get started . This will be my first harley build so I'm pretty excited. Bought some firestone coker tires that are going to look great with this "71"

Painted the walls and organized the shop a bit one day. It was getting a little cluttered and clutter drives me nuts. I spend so much time in here I needed to make it inviting.

Here is two pics of huge dead salmon. All there heads and guts were missing, the opposite of what you want out of a fish, it was the weirdest thing still cant figure it out.

The trails were wet and slick clay mud didn't help jason on this hill.

The batt box came out so clean. Batt ,rectifier and regulator in a tight package.

450 update

I chopped off all tabs thinning out the rear of the bike , welded up a new shorter tail, got a small fender in there and made a seat pan.

Laid down some foam and shaped it with the grinder. Handing it over to New church moto upholstery on monday for some classy stiching.

This thing is going to be sick . This is the part of the project when I get really excited seeing it shape up.

Solomon/ bonfire bought this coach to travel around with the team and friends to promote the new video by videograss. They went all over the country before swinging by portland and picking up a few of us and we headed out for seattle WA then up to Canada .

A real good group. I haven't laughed that much in a long time.

A sick spot in washington we stopped off at and took a dip, it was cold water which really helped with the hangover.

The ride to the ocean was gnarly. We sent out all our surf stuff with friends who were driving out the day before. We left portland at 6:30 am , It was cold and dark. We thought we had dressed warm enough but we were so wrong. it's been so nice lately we thought the beach would be the same but it got colder as we got closer. We stopped and got coffee for an hour and got warm. The road was pretty bumpy the whole way too. We had to wait in line for 40 min to get to the beach and when we got there the waves were not so good. We hung out for a bit then realized we had 3 hours of cold ,dark riding to do so we left. The ride home was a test of endurance for sure, I wanted to camp on the side of the road a few times.

Joe went down hard .I know this pic looks suspect but he's just taking pics of his wounds.

Bike repair . Nothing major, but later in the trip Bryan lost all but 2 bolts holding his rear sprocket on. We tightened up the remaining 2 and used bailing wire to help hold it on till we got back to the trucks.

We thought this raft was going to be sweet but it kind of sucked. Spiders all over and it would sink with 3 of us on there.

6:30 am packed up and headed out to get back to work.

Our plan was to ride trails all the way to the ocean but ... all the trails and roads ended so we back tracked so much we used up our fuel and had to camp and retreat in the morning. It was still fun but the forest out there is all logged or is private property so its not really the great outdoors experience we were looking for. Better luck next time.

This pan was a little tricky. The tank mount was in the way of the seat so I built a little shack over it.

Got the foam on and shaped it like a surfboard. I think It came out sick.

Headlight bracket. Wasn't much to work with up there so I had to get crafty.

Headlight/ taillight on, new bars grips ,tires, all tabs cut and grinded, new cross bar. Still a ways to go.

Took My xl 600 to go moto camping this weekend but it all changed. I ended up in government camp at the bar then truck camping. On sunday we took the hobie cat out, that was fun. All in all a great weekend , glad to get out of the city.

I didn't want to go home , It was only 5 days but it felt like 2 weeks. It was a blast finding roads, camp sites, and rivers and lakes to swim in . No engine problems which was great. I overpacked so bad my bike was nicknamed the mother ship. I had everything in that bike. Woke up in the best mood every morning excited about the sites to see that day and getting loose on the mother ship. I am addicted to this and were going again soon.

It looks like were heading out mon- thurs making our way to bend oregon camping along the way. So I've been slowly building some racks and getting this thing ready. Built the headlight housing yesterday today making some racks.

Working on my first bike. I still have this bike and don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon.

My dad and I posing next to the 50 the first time I restored it. I think I've restored it about 4 times now.

This is the way me and my friend would go camping on our property, doubling on a 2 stroke kx 80.As I remember we tipped the wagon a few hundred feet away and fouled the spark plug.

All I wanted is to look like Jeff Ward, he was a bad ass.

Joe carlino, Bryan Fox, Java Fernandez, Travis from the shop and myself went up to Mc cubbins out past Mt Hood on sunday. The place was great and I had new tires so I didn't crash this time. We rode for a few hours exploring and learning the terrain. It was in an open range for cattle so we saw a few cows on the trails. Finished the day shooting some rounds from my 9mm and headed home tired and hungry. I like this life style .

Headed out to jones creek washington for some rainy day dirt biking. I decided to go with my bald 1986 tires and now I wish I hadn't . It was the most slippery trail I have ever been on. Clay mud right after a rain sucks so bad and this 600 bad boy is either on or off. Also there was a ton of pavers on the trail to stop erosion which stopped traction too. I was cruising around a turn , back end slipped out and before I knew it I slammed against a tree on the outside. Damage list... front fender , rear fender, taillight, kickstand and felt a little gun shy the rest of the day. It was a good time though. Im sore today and going to get some tires put on before the weekend. Thank you helmet.

New exhaust for the XL 600 , its loud!

New headlight fairing, exhaust ,bars, grips, oil. Should be getting the seat done next week and tires are in the mail. Taking it out today in the dirt out at jones creek washington.

My friend Zac and I saddled up and rode to Mt. Hood for the night. We went to a skate contest at windells camp and headed back up to our hotel getting caught in the worst bug storm I had ever experienced . At first I was bummed then It was just funny. Our faces and the front of our bikes covered. We woke up ,had some coffee and headed back to portland stopping out in the farm lands for some scenic bike shots. I went straight to the shop got my truck and went to pick up a xs 650 for a new build for a customer in San Francisco. It's a good running bike with lots of potential. Pics coming soon!

Its finally summer here in oregon so I dropped in on a dual sport Honda XL 600. A few friends bought dirt bikes and have been getting after it while I've been working... it hurt, so I"m ready . It runs great but I gotta do some things like get the seat covered and paint the wheels, engine ect black. Also going to make a desert style headlight deal on the front. In other news I'm tired of towing a trailer behind my truck , its bad for the tranny, hard to park, requires maintenance , speed limit is 55, bad on fuel mileage and it just sucks. So i'm selling the trailer and building one of these on the back of my ford. It will be a little smaller than the trailer but I will still have room for 3-4 bikes and a place to sleep. Thats all a guy really needs.
